Jaroslav Ondroušek

Jaroslav Ondroušek (born June 23, 1923 in Říčany u Brna near Brno , † May 25, 1943 in Breslau ) was a Czech resistance fighter against the German occupation of Czechoslovakia .

Life

Jaroslav Ondroušek came from the small town Říčany u Brna. After graduating from high school, he began studying . From 1939 he worked illegally against the German occupiers. Because a spy betrayed him, he was arrested by the Gestapo and held in the Kounic dormitory , which was then the Gestapo prison. He was charged and a court sentenced him to death . On May 25, 1943, he was executed in Breslau.

After the verdict, he wrote a farewell letter to his parents on May 10, 1943, which was published in a volume of Literary Letters and has thus become known worldwide.
