Jaroslaw Herse

Jaroslaw Herse (born August 25, 1837 in Gnuszyn , Samter district , † January 25, 1909 in Groß Lichterfelde ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Herse studied law in Berlin . During his studies he became a member of the Landsmannschaft and later the Berlin fraternity of Normannia in the winter semester of 1856/57 . In 1866 he became a court assessor at the court of appeal in Poznan . There he became a paid city ​​councilor in 1869 , deputy director of the poor directorate in 1871 and second mayor in 1872 . From 1881 he was also a member of the Provincial Synod for Posen. From 1883 he represented the sick mayor Hermann Kohlis and was elected first mayor in 1884. In 1898 he was made an honorary citizen .

His son was Wilhelm Herse , a librarian and archivist.
