The Jarygin PJa ( Russian ПЯ, Пистолет Ярыгина ) is the new service pistol of the armed forces and police of Russia . It was introduced in 2003 and has since then gradually replaced the Makarow PM .
technology
The reason for the new tender was the projectile energy of faded from the Makarov PM Ordonnanzpatrone caliber mm 9 × 18 , which no longer met the requirements of the military. Their effectiveness against bullet-proof vests remained low. It was therefore decided to introduce 9 × 19 mm ammunition in Russia as well, albeit in a modified and, above all, performance-enhanced load . The Jarygin pistol is a conventional semi-automatic military pistol and uses a latch with a modified Browning system . The safety lever is available on both sides, the magazine ejector can be converted to the needs of left-handers.
The original specification of the headquarters for rockets and artillery called for a modular weapon system that should enable conversion to other calibers by replacing a few components. The development of a new cartridge was even considered, but these points were later dropped. Only modified ammunition with steel core projectiles was created, but normal NATO cartridges can also be fired.
