The Jasmin Similar Seidelbast ( Daphne jasminea ) is a plant type from the genus Seidelbast ( Daphne ) in the family of Thymelaeaceae .

features

The jasmine-like daphne is a prostrate or upright, evergreen cushion plant or a dwarf shrub that reaches heights of up to 30 centimeters. The branches are short and winding. Young shoots are bare. The leaves are oblong-obverse-shaped and measure 0.8 to 1.1 × 0.14 to 0.3 centimeters.

The flowers are terminal individually or in pairs (rarely in threes). The bracts are very small and obsolete. The outside of the corolla-like sepals is usually tinted purple, inside they are white or light yellow. They are pointed and triangular. The fruits are red.

The flowering period extends from April to May and from September to October.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.

Occurrence

The jasmine-like daphne occurs in south-east Greece , west Crete and north-east Libya on cliffs, in Phrygana and in dwarf shrub heaths at altitudes of 50 to 1000 meters.

The jasmine-like daphne is rarely used as an ornamental plant for alpine houses.
