Jasmin Duraković

Jasmin Duraković (born June 18, 1966 in Bugojno , Bosnia-Herzegovina ) is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian director , producer , screenwriter , playwright , film critic and journalist .

His best-known films include Sevdah for Karim and Nafaka. His repertoire consists of feature films and documentaries .

Life

Jasmin Durakovićs was born in the small village Glavice in the Bugojno municipality.

Journalistic career

At the beginning of his career in the mid-1980s he wrote about films and video art in youth newspapers. He then worked for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian newspaper "Valter", where he was most recently editor-in-chief. In his more than 25 years in journalism, Jasmin Duraković wrote for several Bosnian-Herzegovinian newspapers a. a. Bosanski pogled, Slobodna Bosna, BH Dani and Nedjelja. In 2000 he was named Reporter of the Year in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Film career

He has been working in the film and TV business since 1990 and is one of the most important players in Bosnian-Herzegovinian radio. In 20 years he produced several television programs, reports and short films. His most famous broadcast is the live magazine "Čekajući 2001 - Sarajevo".

He was the first general director of the newly introduced federal television broadcaster RTV FBiH from 2001 to 2008. His most famous films include “Nafaka” (2006) and “Sevdah za Karima” (2010) with which he has appeared at numerous international film festivals. His only two plays are “Grad od snova 2000” (1999) and “Te sjajne godine opsade” (2000). These plays are the first two parts of a trilogy dedicated to the siege of Sarajevo between 1992 and 1995. Both pieces were on stage between 2000 and 2001 in the People's Theater in Sarajevo. The piece “Te sjajne godine opsade” was interrupted during rehearsals because of anti-patriotic content and inappropriate portrayal of the events of the last war. In March 2006 the piece was then performed in Tuzla. In the same year "Grad od snova 2000" was shown on stage for the first time. In 2006 the third part came out, but as a film.

Jasmin Duraković lives with his family in Sarajevo and is the owner and managing director of the DEPO Group, the second largest online portal in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
