Jasna Šekarić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Јасна Шекарић ; born December 17, 1965 in Belgrade , Yugoslavia as Jasna Brajković ) is a Serbian sports shooter .

Career

Šekarić won the gold medal in the 10 m air pistol and bronze in the 25 m pistol at the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 . She was three times world champion (Budapest 1987, Sarajevo 1989, and Milan 1994) and five times European champion (Espoo 1986, Manchester 1991, Budapest 1992 and 1996, and Belgrade 2005).

In 1990, 1994 and 2005 she was named the world's best female shooter. The International Shooting Sport Federation awarded her in 2000 the title "Sagittarius of the Millennium". She also won four gold medals (Athens 1991, Bari 1997, Tunis 2001 and Almería 2005) and a silver and bronze medal (Pescara 2009) at the Mediterranean Games . Jasna Šekarić won her first medal at the European Championships in Osijek in 1985. The then 19-year-old shooter got bronze. Jasna Šekarić received her last medal at the 2010 World Cup in Sydney. She won the gold medal.

She won six World Cup finals and won six Crystal Globes ; one in the pistol discipline (1988) and five with the air pistol (1990, 1996, 1997 and 2005). At the World Cup final in 1996, she set the world record with 392 points, then improved it to 392.7. She won a total of 101 medals in competitions in her career; Jasna Šekarić has won 60 World Cup medals, ten World Cup final medals, 15 European Championship medals, six Mediterranean Games medals, five World Championship medals and five Olympic medals, including 67 gold medals.

She took part in the Olympic Games seven times (Seoul 1988, Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012). She has been named Best Sportswoman by the National Committee of Serbia six times (1994, 1995, 1997, 2000, 2004 and 2005). Jasna Šekarić belongs to the SK Red Star Belgrade shooting club .
