Tao Luna ( Chinese  陶璐娜 , Pinyin Táo Lùnà ; born February 11, 1974 in Shanghai ) is a former Chinese sports shooter .

successes

Tao Luna participated in the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 and in Athens in 2004 . In 2000 she set the previous world record with the air pistol in qualification with 390 points and entered the final round as first place. With 98.2 points, she scored the fifth-best result among the eight starters, but remained in first place with 488.2 points. Tao was Olympic champion ahead of Jasna Šekarić and Annemarie Ford . In the competition with the sport pistol , she shot an Olympic record with 590 points in the qualification and also finished the preliminary round in first place. In the final round she was again the fifth best shooter with 99.8 and therefore ended the competition with 689.8 points overall. With this number of points, she stayed 0.5 points behind Olympic champion Marija Grosdewa , but secured the silver medal thanks to a lead of 3.8 points over Lalita Jauhleuskaja . In 2004 she only competed with the air pistol, but did not get beyond the 38th place among 41 starters in the competition with 366 points.

At world championships she won four medals in team competitions and was twice world champion. In 1998 in Barcelona and 2002 in Lahti , she won the title in the team competition with the combination pistol. With the air pistol team she was runner-up in 1998, while in 2002 she took third place with her. On the continental level she reached the individual in 2000 in Pulau Langkawi with the sport pistol in second place at the Asian Championships, with the air pistol she was third. In 2004 she also took third place with the sport pistol in Kuala Lumpur . At the Asian Games she won the gold medal with the air pistol team in Bangkok in 1998 and repeated this success with her in Busan in 2002 . She also won the gold medal in the individual in 2002 and also secured first place with the sports pistol team. In the individual, she won the silver medal with the sport pistol. Four years later, in Doha, she again secured a medal in all four disciplines, the same as in 2002: with the air pistol, she won gold in both individual and team competitions, as well as in the team competition with the sport pistol. In the individual with the sport pistol, she again reached second place.
