Olena Dmytrivna Kostevich ( Ukrainian Олена Дмитрівна Костевич , scientific transliteration Olena Kostevič ; born April 14, 1985 in Khabarovsk ) is a Ukrainian sports shooter . She was world champion and Olympic champion in the 10 m air pistol competition .

In 2001 Kostewytsch reached the international top with a third place with the 25 m sport pistol at the World Cup event in Milan . At the 2002 World Shooting Championships in Lahti , Finland , she became world champion with the 10 m air pistol.

She was able to confirm this success in the following two years at the European Championships. In Gothenburg in 2003 and in Győr in 2004, she took second place with the air pistol. With the Ukrainian national team, she was third in the team competition with the air pistol in 2003 and European champion in 2004.

Kostewytsch celebrated the greatest success of her career so far on August 15, 2004 at the Summer Olympics in Athens . There she became Olympic champion with the 10 m air pistol. Kostewytsch threatened to fail in the qualification. In eighth place, she just managed to qualify for the final. Eventually, she pushed past her competitors with a series of 10 shots without fail. After the end of the competition, she was tied with the Serbian Jasna Šekarić in first place. In the jump-off, Kostewytsch kept his nerve and won the gold medal with 10.4 rings.
