Jason Price

Jason Price (born April 5, 1978 in Chicago , Illinois ), also called "JP", is a former American basketball player and current coach.

Career

At first Price toyed with the idea of becoming a professional footballer . Through his brother Quentin, with whom he played on outdoor courts in his hometown of Chicago at a young age, he finally got into the sport of basketball. He played at Marshalltown Community College and the University of Iowa in his home country. In 2001 he embarked on a professional career and played for clubs in Poland and Kosovo, before moving to Germany in 2003 and playing for various clubs in the 2nd Bundesliga and Regional League: His stations were the Krefeld Panthers , BBV Hagen , FC Schalke 04 and SVD 49 Dortmund . During his time as a professional player, he already took on coaching tasks in the youth field at his clubs. He celebrated his greatest successes as a professional in the 2005/06 season, when he won the championship title in the Regionalliga West and the WBV Cup with Dortmund and was the team's best point collector.

After the end of his playing career, he became a coach and founded a company with another former professional player, Duez Henderson, which offers basketball training for individuals and groups. In addition, he also built the youth team "Iowa Pump N Run" with Henderson.

From January 2016 until the end of the 2016/17 season, Price was assistant coach at Bundesliga club Eisbären Bremerhaven , initially under Chris Harris , then after a change in the coaching staff under Sebastian Machowski .

At the beginning of May 2018, the Luxembourg club Sparta Bartringen announced Price's commitment as head coach. In November 2018, Price was fired from Sparta for sporting reasons. With the start of the 2019/20 season, he took over the coaching position at BSG Grevenbroich in the German regional league. At the beginning of February 2020, Price had to vacate his post in Grevenbroich after six defeats in a row.
