Javier García Chico (born July 22, 1966 in Barcelona ) is a former Spanish pole vaulter . With a height of 1.77 m, his competition weight was 71 kg.

Javier García failed to qualify for the 1988 Olympic Games . At the European Championships in 1990 he finished 5th with 5.70 meters and was even one place ahead of Serhij Bubka .

At the 1992 Olympic Games in his hometown of Barcelona, ​​García surpassed himself. He equalized his personal best of 5.75 meters and was level in front of the American Kory Tarpenning Olympic Knights .

At the 1996 Olympic Games , García failed to qualify as in 1988.

García also started regularly in the hall, at indoor world championships between 1989 and 1997 he finished four times in the top eight. At the European Indoor Championships he was sixth (1990) and fifth (1998). His indoor performance of 5.77 meters in 1992 meant a Spanish record.
