Javier Lopez Gonzales (born December 15, 1974 in Oberhausen ) is a former Spanish - German soccer player who played once in the Bundesliga for MSV Duisburg . He then turned to golf and was still active at times in amateur soccer leagues.

Career in football

Lopez played in his youth at SC Glück-Auf Sterkrade from Oberhausen before he was signed by MSV Duisburg. In 1994 he obtained his Abitur and got a job as a contract amateur at MSV at the beginning of the 1994/95 season. Thus, the then 19-year-old was primarily intended for the second team of the "Zebras" , but Ewald Lienen offered him the chance to be considered in the professional game. On October 8, 1994 Lopez even counted in a 1: 2 defeat against SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga team and was replaced in the 67th minute by Mario Krohm . With this he had made his Bundesliga debut, even if this was also his last encounter in the top German league and in professional football in general. His contract in Duisburg ran until December 1996, but he did not make it into the first team again.

During the 1999/2000 season he joined SV Adler Osterfeld from his hometown of Oberhausen in the fourth-class Oberliga Nordrhein and almost always took a regular place, especially in the first half of the season. From 2003 to 2005 he played again in the jersey of SV Adler, who voluntarily withdrew from the league at the end of the 2004/05 season despite being fourth in the table. He then joined the league club Ratingen 04/19 and remained active in amateur football until 2008.

Change to golf

After studying civil engineering, Lopez completed training as a golf teacher from 2000 to 2003 and was employed as such by a golf club in Bottrop-Kirchhellen . In December 2010 he finally acquired the Trainer-A license for this sport.
