Jay Tyler Chapman (born January 1, 1994 in Brampton ) is a Canadian football player who is mostly used as a midfielder .

Career

Youth and amateur football

Chapman played for two years in his youth for the TFC Academy, the youth division of Toronto FC . He then played for two years for the college team at Michigan State University .

During his time in college he also played in the USL Premier Development League for KW United FC .

Club career

On January 15, 2015, Chapman signed a professional contract under the Homegrown Player Rule with Toronto FC . Shortly afterwards he played for the farm team , where he also made his competitive debut on March 20, 2015 against Charleston Battery . On April 19, 2015, he scored his first goal for the U-23 against the second team of the Vancouver Whitecaps .

On May 6, Chapman made his debut for the first team in a 2015 Canadian Championship game against Montreal Impact .

For the 2020 season, Chapman switched to the new MLS franchise Inter Miami .

National team

Chapman was part of the squad for the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship and the 2011 U-17 World Cup .
