The grave in regional sagas

A legend similar to that of the destroyed large stone graves near Ballerstedt is entwined with the grave . Accordingly, the stones are said to have been erected to commemorate a first battle between Margrave Huder ( Udo von Freckleben ) and Count Albrecht ( Albrecht the Bear ) near Dahrenstedt, while the graves near Ballerstedt are said to have been memorial stones to a subsequent battle. According to a chronicle by Christoph Entzelt , numerous human skulls are said to have been discovered near the alleged battlefield of Dahrenstedt in the 16th century.
