Jay Rodan
Jay Rodan (born May 15, 1974 in Durban ) is a South African film and theater actor .
Life
Jay Rodan was born in South Africa to a Scottish father and a Dutch mother. However, since his parents had business all over the world, Rodan grew up in London and Edinburgh , among others , but also came to India and Canada . Here, in a youth theater in Vancouver , Rodan began his acting career from the age of 16. After he finished school, he took on many different jobs, including working as a construction worker and roofer.
In the mid-1990s, Rodan moved back to South Africa, where he directed his first professional play as a director in 1995, at the age of 21. He also got his first offers as an actor; in Faces in the Wall by the author Pieter-Dirk Uys , he played a young homosexual.
Rodan's hoped for international career was a long time coming. He moved to London, where he drew attention to himself in plays by William Shakespeare in Covent Garden . In order to be able to keep himself afloat financially, he also worked as a furniture packer.
2001 was the year Rodan got his first film offer. In the horror film The Caveman's Valentine by Kasi Lemmons , he impressed alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Colm Feore . In Julius Caesar, a television adaptation from 2002, he stood as Marcus Antonius in front of the camera. In The Game of Their Lives, a film from 2005, he played the American soccer player Frank Wallace .
Jay Rodan now lives in California, Los Angeles . He is married to the American photographer Kayt Jones and has two daughters together. In 2008, he and his wife directed the 15-minute short film Foxglove , in which he not only played the main role, but was also responsible as a director, screenwriter and film producer.
