Jaywalk is an alternative rock band in Berchtesgaden , currently five of them perform together with founding members Detlev Knoll ( vocals ) and Roman Powolny ( bass ).
history
The band was founded in 1998 and has since performed in Germany and Austria . In the year it was founded, it won the Newcomer Festival of the Sternenzeltverein Bad Reichenhall .
In mid-2000, the debut album The Singing Fish was recorded in the Planet Orange Studios in Munich under the leadership of Martin Faulwasser. This album helped Jaywalk to make several appearances in the opening act of Liquido , JBO , Die Springer and the Lemonbabies . Thanks to The Singing Fish , the Berchtesgaden band reached 3rd place in the Bavarian Rock & Pop Prize and were able to play their songs live at the German Rock & Pop Prize in Bonn.
In 2005 the new album Dismissed was recorded. Phil Seidl, who had already produced some well-known newcomer bands like Flyswatter and The Blackout Argument , became the producer of Jaywalk.
In May 2007 Jaywalk were able to take first place in each year for the 10th anniversary of the Xtra-Ordinary Sampler of the Salzburg Rockhouse by voting in advance with three songs. In the overall ranking of the ten years, the band reached places four to six.
In 2011, the third album The Chains of Ignorance was recorded with new band members under the leadership of Max Walch in the rehearsal room at home. In 2012 Jaywalk received the award "Best of Alternative Album 2012" at the German Rock & Pop Prize for this album.
