Jazz Perspectives is a refereed scientific journal with a thematic focus on jazz , which has existed since 2007 .

Founded by Lewis Porter and John Howland, Jazz Perspectives is published by Taylor & Francis . The central editor is Ken Prouty. Other editors include Graeme Boone , Eric Charry , Scott DeVeaux , Krin Gabbard , Leslie Gay , Benjamin Givan , John Howland , Travis A. Jackson , Robin Kelley , Wolfram Knauer , George Lewis , Kristin A. Thematically, Jazz Perspectives sees itself as a forum for interdisciplinary exchange in scientific jazz research . The journal is as open to international research perspectives as it is to the cultural and musical aspects of jazz's rich legacy, past and present. The magazine intends to bridge the current division into either socio-cultural or musicological analyzes. Films, books and other media are also discussed in the magazine.
