The jazz club in the Stellwerk is a Hamburg venue for contemporary jazz . The voluntarily run music club has been in existence since September 15, 2005. The foundation of the Friends' Association Jazzclub Hamburg e. V., created by the founding members Dieter Glawischnig , the singer Ulita Knaus and Heiko Langanke.

The name Jazzclub in the Stellwerk comes from the special feature of the room in the Hamburg-Harburg train station . The former waiting room of the 3rd grade was used for its original use by Deutsche Bahn as a teaching signal box, which set the course was taught in simulation signal boxes. The hall had been empty since the 1980s and was no longer used. The association took over the name "Stellwerk" because it wanted to set the course for modern jazz in Hamburg .

After a short time, the club was known throughout the city for a program that promotes young jazz, alongside the more traditional Hamburg jazz clubs Birdland, Cotton Club, Bergedorf jazz club, Mandarin Kasino (formerly Mojo Club ) and the Stage Club.

Since May 2008, the jazz club in the Stellwerk has also had its own internet radio that only played jazz in, from and for Hamburg. "After six years, during which the club connected the city of Hamburg to the European jazz scene largely free of public support, the small-scale operating association ran out of formal requirements and official requirements." Since January 1, 2012, the jazz program has been significantly reduced; The venue will be retained, but has been converted into a music club that is primarily open to other genres: “Lots of hip-hop , plus well-groomed soul , funk and now and then jazz”, as well as poetry slams and film evenings.
