The Jbel Aklim ( Berber language : Adrar n'Aklim ) is with its height of 2531  m (probably) the highest mountain of the Anti-Atlas Mountains in southern Morocco . The next higher peaks of the Anti-Atlas are in the vicinity of Jbel Aklim and close to the Ammeln valley in the vicinity of Tafraoute ( Jbel Lekst and Jbel m'Korn ). The mountains of the Anti Atlas were measured for the first and last time during the French protectorate period (1912 to 1956).

location

Jebel Aklim is located about 25 km (as the crow flies) east of the small town of Igherm in the province of Taroudannt in the Souss-Massa region .

description

Like almost all mountains in the Anti-Atlas, the Jbel Aklim is characterized by heavily eroded rocks and loose scree. Hardly any rain falls in the entire region; Should snow actually fall in winter, it melts again within a few minutes or hours in the daytime sun, so that small oases can form in the valley . Overall, however, the brittle mountain region is only extremely sparsely populated and cannot even be grazed by herds of sheep and goats.

Ascent

Ascent and descent can be accomplished for experienced mountain hikers within a few hours (take drinking water with you!), Whereby you can approach the mountain at the village of Tagdicht with an all -terrain vehicle or mountain bike up to about 5 km (or less) - from there the to be overcome is Height difference still about 650 m.
