Jean-Antoine David

Jean-Antoine David (born November 9, 1767 in Arbois , † September 14, 1799 near Alkmaar ) was a French général de brigade of the cavalry .

Life

David was the son of Claude-François David and Agnès Saillard. Enthusiastic about the ideals of the revolution , David volunteered for the army on November 22, 1781. He took part in the Revolutionary Wars and was distinguished by bravery.

Under General Charles-François Dumouriez , he fought at Jemappes (November 6, 1792). After further promotions, David moved to the Armée du Nord . David later served on General Luc Siméon Auguste Dagobert's staff.

In 1796 David volunteered for Napoleon's Italian campaign and took a. a. participated in the siege of Mantua .

As General David led his troops into battle against Trebbia (17/19. June 1799), in Novi (25 August 1799) and led by General Guillaume Brune he participated in the fighting in the Batavian Republic part ; u. a. at the battle of Alkmaar . There he was seriously wounded and died on September 14, 1799. General Charles Ambroise Dardenne wrote an obituary on October 5, 1799.
