Jean-Baptiste Descamps (born August 28, 1706 in Dunkerque , North Department , † June 30, 1791 in Rouen , Seine-Maritime Department ) was a French painter and writer .

Life

Descamps was a student of Nicolas de Largillière in Paris and then settled in Rouen . He liked to paint domestic and rural scenes, but is known less for his pictures than for his books.
