Jean-Jacques Bachelier
Jean-Jacques Bachelier (* 1724 in Paris ; † April 13, 1806 there ) was a French painter .
He was a student of Jean-Baptiste Marie Pierre and then worked with the court painter Jean-Baptiste Oudry . In 1740 he came to the porcelain factory in Vincennes Castle , which in 1756 became the Manufacture royale de porcelaine de Sèvres at the new location . Bachelier became its artistic director. He became one of Louis XV's favorite artists . and Madame de Pompadour and received the title of painter to the king (French: peintre du roi ). From 1752 he was a member of the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture .
In 1766 he founded the École Royale Gratuite de Dessein in Paris . The drawing school enabled the sons of Parisian craftsmen to be trained. The drawing school existed until 1806, was renamed and is now called the Paris College of Decorative Arts (ENSAD). Well-known artists such as Henri Matisse , Jean-Paul Goude and Jean Widmer studied there . In 1789 he had to give up the plan drawn up by Bachelier in 1786 to open a similar drawing school for girls. It was not until 1803 that the plan was implemented.
His paintings (still lifes, animals, hunts, historical subjects) hang today in the Musée Lambinet in Versailles , in the National Museum of Fontainebleau Castle , in the Musée Leblanc-Duvernoy in Auxerre , in the Art Museum of Marseille , in the Louvre ( Saint Simon ) and in the Muséum national d 'histoire naturelle Paris.
