Jean-Marie Demange
Jean-Marie Demange (born July 23, 1943 in Toulouse , † November 17, 2008 in Thionville in the Moselle department ) was a French politician and has been a member of the National Assembly since 1986 . He was a member of the UMP .
On November 17, 2008, he shot his lover after an argument in her home in Thionville. He then shot himself. Demange, who was in the process of divorce, had lost the election as mayor of Thionville to the socialist Bertrand Mertz eight months earlier . Demange held the office of mayor from 1995 to March 2008.
After his death, the politician Anne Grommerch succeeded him in the National Assembly.
