Jean-Maurice Chanet

Jean-Maurice Chanet (born October 27, 1954 in Chaumont , Haute-Marne ) is a former French boxer .

Jean-Maurice Chanet was an amateur French heavyweight champion in 1984 and 1985. In April 1985 he started his professional career, which lasted until June 1995. He won the French heavyweight championship in 1988 and 1989, was able to win the European heavyweight title against Derek Williams in February 1990 and successfully defend the belt in a direct rematch in May 1990. In October 1990 he lost prematurely to Lennox Lewis . He suffered another defeat in September 1992 against Herbie Hide .

His son Jackson Chanet was also European boxing champion among amateurs and professionals.
