Jean-Paul Delahaye
Jean-Paul Delahaye (born June 29, 1952 in Saint-Mandé , Département Seine ) is a French computer scientist and mathematician.
Delahaye studied at the University of Paris-South in Orsay, graduating from Agrégation in 1976. He then received his doctorate from the University of Lille I (Doctorat de troisième cycle 1979, Doctorat d'État 1982). Since 1983 he has been researching at the Computer Science Laboratory in Lille and since 1988 he has been Professor of Computer Science at the University of Lille I.
He deals with complexity theory (especially Kolmogorov complexity and algorithmic information theory), algorithmic game theory (including the prisoner's dilemma) and the concept of chance ( e.g. Benford's law ). Previously, he also dealt with sequence transformation and logic programming for artificial intelligence .
Since 1991 he has maintained a regular column in the popular science journal Pour la Science (section Logique et calcul ). He has written numerous popular science books on mathematics and computer science.
