Jean-Pierre Desthuilliers (born October 22, 1939 in Versailles , † December 6, 2013 ) was a French writer and poet.

Life

Jean-Pierre Desthuilliers passed his A-levels at the Albert-de-Mun high school, at the Gai Savoir school founded by Michel Bouts and at the mixed high school in Meaux , now the Henri Moissan high school. From 1956 he attended as part of a preparatory course the Classes préparatoires aux grandes écoles (German preparatory class for the elite universities) at the Lycée Henri-IV, where he was taught by Jean Itard and Émile Riche. 1962 followed his doctorate as an engineer at the École nationale supérieure d'ingénieurs de constructions aéronautiques (ENSICA). He made his first career as an engineer and executive in the industry, with the aircraft manufacturer Nord-Aviation and finally with Westinghouse (company for brakes and signaling systems) in Sevran as well as Rank Xerox France and Bernard Moteurs, a subsidiary of Renault. He then spent ten years on the board of directors of Cofiroute, a private company that provides public services, and for which Desthuilliers designed and implemented an electronic fee and payment system. Desthuilliers then worked as an Associate Manager at Bossard Consultants, where, under the leadership of Jean-Christian Fauvet, he contributed to the expansion of the company's socio-dynamics and founded a department for educational innovations. In 1992 he founded a consultancy for educational project planning based in Boulogne-Billancourt .

Jean-Pierre Desthuilliers began writing in 1954, encouraged by the poet Jehan Despert, who published his texts in his Cahiers de l'Île de France and who gave him a column in Le Figaro.

From 1959 Desthuilliers held offices in cultural associations, including in particular:

  • From 1962 to 1974 in the Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture (dt. House of Youth and Culture), then in the cultural center of Chelles (in the Île-de-France region, France), where he worked with Michel Heim, among others ;
  • From 1978 to 1983 in the ACILECE (Association Corporative Intersyndicale de Librairie et d'Édition du Corps Enseignant), founded by Maurice Fombeure;
  • Since 1983 with the publishing company La Jointée, which publishes the Revue Jointure. Desthuilliers co-founded this magazine alongside Jacques Arnold, Georges Friedenkraft, Daniel Sauvalle and a few other poets. For many years he was treasurer there and was its editor;
  • Since 2004 Desthuillers has also been the artistic director of the Aire-Falguière theater.

He was a member of the Société des poètes français (German Society of French Poets).

In addition to his professional activity and his literary work, Jean-Pierre Desthuilliers was also politically and socially involved. In particular, this included the following activities:

  • From 2002 to 2008 carer in the neighborhood of his home town of Boulogne-Billancourt;
  • As a representative of the ENSICA graduates, he was one of the actors in the rapprochement process between SUPAERO and ENSICA, which led to the founding of the ISAE in 2007. He also contributed to the merger of their alumni associations, which led to the establishment of the Amicale ISAE friendship group, whose administrator and communications officer was Desthuilliers. As a member of the executive committee of this association, Desthuilliers coordinated the editorial work on the white paper, which came out in April 2011 under the title Reinventing the job of the engineer in order to enhance his role in society.
