Jean-Pierre Solié

Jean-Pierre Solié (also Soulier , Solier or Sollié ; * 1755 in Nîmes ; † August 6, 1812 in Paris ) was a French cellist , opera singer (baritone) and composer .

Life

As the son of a cellist, he learned to play this instrument and the guitar, and he also worked as a choirboy. Solié began as a tenor , but then switched to the baritone range . He sang mostly at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. He also became a distinguished composer who primarily wrote one-act opera comiques .

As an adult, he appeared in operas by Grétry and Monsigny , and then appeared in operas by his colleague Méhul, for example . As a composer of an opera he appeared for the first time in 1783 and continued his successful career.
