Jean-Yves Camus

Jean-Yves Camus (* 1958 in Châtenay-Malabry ) is a French political scientist and right-wing extremism researcher .

Life

Camus obtained a DEA in contemporary history from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) and studied political science at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and graduated at Sciences Po as part of a master’s degree .

He was head of research at the Center Européen de Recherche et d'Action sur le Racisme et l'Antisémitisme (CERA) in Paris and also dealt intensively with left-wing extremism (project of the Swiss National Science Foundation ) and Islamophobia (project of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights ). Camus is a member of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) and the Task Force on Antisemitism of the European Jewish Congress . He is currently working at the Institut de Relations Internationales et Stratégiques (IRIS).

He published books a. a. on the Front National , essays at Le Monde diplomatique and on Rue89 as well as articles in anthologies and specialist journals such as the yearbook Extremismus & Demokratie , Revue des Sciences Sociales and Politique Internationale .

Camus converted to Judaism several years ago .
