biography

Ferri was born in Algeria in 1959. Since the age of four he grew up in the Ariège department in southwest France. In childhood he learned to read with the comic magazine Pilote , which is how he got into his later profession. He published comics in children's magazines until 1990, before publishing his first complete album in 1996 with Les Fables Autonomes . Starting in 2000, he followed up with four volumes on the figure of the peculiar farmer Aimé Lacapelle , which he not only wrote but also drew.

As early as 1995 he met the comic book author Manu Larcenet in Paris , with whom he created five albums in the series Le Retour à la terre from 2002 to 2008 . With Correspondances and Le sens de la vis , two more works emerged from their collaboration over the years, with Ferri texting while Larcenet drawing.

Ferri alone continued to publish, whereby Revoir Corfou, le recueil des dessins hors-séries was awarded the Grand Prix de L'Humor Noir in 2004. His last solo project was De Gaulle à la plage , published in 2007 . In 2008 he was awarded the Prix Jacques Lob for his oeuvre to date .

In 2011 it was announced that Ferri (text) and Didier Conrad (drawing) will succeed Albert Uderzo and will thus write the first Asterix volume with Asterix at the Picts , in which Uderzo is not involved. The album was released on October 24, 2013.

Ferri lives in the Occitania region in southwestern France.
