Jean Bertin

Jean Bertin (born September 5, 1917 in Druyes-les-Belles-Fontaines in the Yonne department , † December 21, 1975 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) was a French engineer and aeronautical engineer . His name is closely related to the development of the Aérotrain .

Life

He studied at the École polytechnique (graduating class 1938) and at the École supérieure de l'aéronautique (SUPAERO). From 1944 he worked for the French state society for the development of aircraft engines (Société nationale d'études et de construction de moteurs d'aviation, SNECMA ).

In 1955 he founded the Bertin & Cie company , whose most famous activity is the development of the aerotrain. Bertin died barely a year and a half after the French government terminated the contract for an aerotrain line between Cergy and La Défense .
