Jean Marie Berveiller (born June 29, 1904 in Sommedieue ( Meuse ), † October 21, 1976 in Paris ) was a French organist and composer .

Live and act

Jean Berveiller began playing the piano (mainly jazz) at an early age, and together with his friends Clément Doucet and Jean Wiener he directed the Parisian music cabaret Le Bœuf sur le Toit, which opened in 1922 . Berveiller embarked on a career in finance, but devoted his spare time to music. He played the organ and studied composition and harmony with Marcel Dupré for seven years . His compositions include a number of jazz-inspired organ works that the French organist Jeanne Demessieux often played in her concerts. Jean Berveiller is the dedicatee of Demessieux's organ cycle “Sept Méditations sur le Saint-Esprit” opus 6.
