Brocard moved into the National Assembly in 1968 via the first constituency of the Haute-Savoie department , where he had defeated the previous MP, Charles Bosson . In the following elections in 1973 he was re-elected and in the same year made it into the General Council of the Haute-Savoie department. In 1983 he also successfully applied for the office of Mayor of Annecy-le-Vieux . After he was re-elected as a member of parliament in 1978 and 1981, he succeeded in doing so in 1986. A candidacy for the Senate in the same year, however, failed. In 1989 he also failed to be re-elected mayor and was beaten by Bernard Accoyer . In 1992 he failed to be re-elected as a member of the General Council. Brocard, who was re-elected as a MP for the last time in 1988, did not run again in the 1993 general election and ended his political career. In 2005 he was awarded the honorary title of Commander of the Legion of Honor . Brocard died in January 2013.
