Jean Leering

Jean Leering (born March 11, 1934 in Amsterdam , † April 4, 2005 in Eindhoven ) was a Dutch museum director and art historian .

Live and act

After studying architecture in Delft , Leering took over the management of the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven in 1964 . From 1973 he was one of the two directors of the Tropical Museum in Amsterdam and two years later moved to the Dutch monument protection authority Rijksgebouwendienst . From 1966 to 1968 he was a member of the documenta council for the 4th documenta in 1968 in Kassel .

In 1976, Leering began reading art history at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE). In 1992 he was appointed professor by the TUE. He held the chair until his retirement on November 12, 1999.

Jean Leering died on April 4, 2005 at the age of 71.
