Jean Leymarie
Jean Leymarie (born July 17, 1919 in Gagnac-sur-Cère , Département Lot , † March 9, 2006 in Paris ) was a French art historian .
Life
Leymarie studied art history in Toulouse and Paris . After the Second World War he began a professional career as a museum curator. From 1950 to 1955 he was director of the Musée de Grenoble and from 1968 to 1973 director of the Paris Musée National d'Art Moderne . From 1979 to 1985, Leymarie was the successor to Balthus, director of the Académie de France à Rome . As a university lecturer, he taught at the Universities of Geneva and Lausanne .
