Jean Suau

Jean Suau (* 1503 near Rieumes , Gascogne , France, † April 29, 1566 in Rome ) was Bishop of Mirepoix and Cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

After studying constitutional and canon law, the cleric of the Lombez diocese became an auditor for the affairs of the Apostolic Palace and the Rota Romana . Pope Paul IV appointed him Bishop of Mirepoix on December 20, 1555 and created him cardinal priest at the same time . After he was assigned the titular church of San Giovanni a Porta Latina on January 13, 1556 , Pope Pius IV appointed him Prefect of the Apostolic Signature . After he had changed to the titular church of Santa Prisca as cardinal on April 26, 1560 , he renounced his diocese before January 31, 1561.

He died in the Apostolic Palace and was buried in the Church of Santo Spirito in Sassia in Rome.
