The Jean de Vienne (D643) is a U-hunting - frigate of the French Navy of the Georges-Leygues class (type F70) . It is the fourth unit in this class and named after the French admiral of the Hundred Years War , Jean de Vienne .

history
The Jean de Vienne was laid down in Brest in October 1979 and was launched two years later in November 1981. After commissioning on May 25, 1984, she was integrated into the Force d'Action Navale (FAN) .
From 2001 to 2002 the Jean di Vienne took part in Operation Heracles in the Indian Ocean and from 2008 to 2009 in Operation Atalanta off Somalia .
