Jed Tucker Whedon (born July 18, 1975 ) is an American screenwriter and musician .

Life

Jed Whedon comes from a family of writers, he is the son of screenwriter Tom Whedon and grandson of screenwriter John Whedon . His siblings are the screenwriter Zack Whedon and the producer, screenwriter and director Joss Whedon . On April 19, 2009 he married the screenwriter Maurissa Tancharoen .

Together with his brothers Joss and Zack, as well as his then fiancé Maurissa Tancharoen, he wrote the musical web series Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog . The series won an Emmy Award in 2009 in the category "Special Class - Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Programs".

Before Dr. Horrible , Jed composed music for video games and was a member of the now defunct band The Southland . In 2010 he released an album entitled History of Forgotten Things under the band name "Jed Whedon and the Willing". His wife Maurissa and their mutual friend Felicia Day contributed to the album. Together with Felicia Day he composed the music for the song (Do You Wanna Date My) Avatar for the web series The Guild . He also directed the accompanying music video.

Until his dismissal, he and his wife Maurissa were writers for the Fox series Dollhouse , which was invented by his brother Joss Whedon. After that, they were authors for Spartacus . Together with his wife and brother Joss, he worked on the film Marvel's The Avengers in 2012 and on the television series Marvel's Agents of SHIELD since 2013 .

Awards

For his work on Dr. Jed 's Horrible's Sing-Along Blog won two Streamy Awards for Best Writing for a Comedy Web Series and Best Original Music for a Web Series .
