Jeff Davis (trumpeter)

Jeffrey "Jeff" Hayes Davis (born December 19, 1952 in St. Albans , New York City ) is a former American jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player.

Davis has been active in New York since the 1970s, where he also studied with Gary Burton , among others . From 1972 to 1974 he was with Lionel Hampton and in 1975 with Woody Herman and His Orchestra . He accompanied the singers Tony Bennett and Caterina Valente . He not only played lead trumpet with Herman , but also with Count Basie , Buddy Rich , Machito , Clark Terry and the Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra .

Tom Lord's jazz discography has 17 recordings from 1976 to 1991.
