Jeff Welsh
Jeffrey Welsh (born August 10, 1979 ) is a retired American football player .
Life
Originally from Oak Forest (Illinois) near Chicago , Welsh played football at Mount Carmel High School and was there at times a teammate of his brother John, who was also used in the quarterback position. Welsh was then from 1997 to 2001 player and student at Western Michigan University . Welsh then moved to the professional camp and was under contract from 2002 to 2004 with various teams in the US indoor football league AFL . After initially working in his home country, he returned to the field in 2009, was under contract with the French team Flash de La Courneuve and played there under the German head coach Patrick Esume . With the team he won the final of the French championship in June 2009, in the following month he was with Flash in the Eurobowl , but lost there against the Swarco Raiders Tirol .
For the 2010 season, the 1.90 meter long Welsh moved to the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes in the top German division GFL and worked there with coach Esume as in France. Welsh led the Fördestädter to the first German championship in the club's history in 2010 and was named the best player of the final. In his second and third year in Kiel he was the German runner-up with the team.
In the run-up to the 2013 season he moved to the Dresden Monarchs within the GFL . He also reached the final of the German championship with the Saxons, but had to admit defeat to Braunschweig by almost 34:35. In the 2014 season he was eliminated from the GFL semi-finals with Dresden. In 2015 he was under contract with the Uppsala 86ers in Sweden . Welsh then returned to the United States and worked as a sales consultant for a medical company.
