Jeffrey Thomas (actor)
Jeffrey Thomas is a New Zealand actor , writer and screenwriter .
Career
Thomas was born in Wales , Great Britain . He is a graduate of Liverpool University and Oxford University in England . He grew up bilingual and is fluent in English and Welsh . Thomas wrote scriptures in both languages. He has written scripts for several episodes of New Zealand television programs as well as the series MWY Na Phapur Newydd . He wrote the play Playing the Game for the theater . He also wrote the script for the short film Making Money and wrote books.
He became famous in New Zealand in the late 1980s for starring Inspector "Sharky" Finn on the Shark in the Park series. He became better known nationally with the series Mercy Peak and Shortland Street . Under the name Jeff Thomas he also played in Xena - The Warrior Princess .
In March 2011 it was announced that Thomas would play the role of Thrór, Thorin Oakenshield's grandfather, in The Hobbit . Peter Jackson and Thomas worked together in Forgotten Silver .
