Jehan de Montmorency

Jehan de Montmorency , the Señor de Courrières , (* 1500 in Courrières ; † unknown) was Charles V's ambassador to Jane Gray in 1553 and 1554 . He came from the noble family Montmorency .

Life

On July 6, 1553, the anniversary of Edward VI's death . , commissioned Charles V Jehan de Montmorency, Simon Renard and Charles II de Lalaing to sign a marriage contract between Philip II of Spain and Mary I of England . After the wedding on July 25, 1554, Renard stayed in England as a resident ambassador . John Foxe reported that on January 2, 1554, Charles V received the ambassadors in London with honors. In addition to Jehan de Montmorency, he named Lamoral von Egmond and Le Chauncellour Nigre as Charles's ambassador. On April 12, 1554 Renard from Brussels confirmed the diplomatic status of Courrières.
