Philippe Negri
Philippe Negri († January 4, 1563 ) was Charles V's ambassador to Mary I of England in 1554 .
Life
Under the governorship of Maria of Hungary in the Spanish Netherlands , he served as minister with Louis Schoereals in 1535 and fought off a tax on the import of wood, for which he had been offered a reward. He later stated that he was doing the Dutch no service.
John Foxe reported that on January 2, 1554, Charles V received the ambassadors in London with honors. In addition to Le Chauncellour Nigre , Jehan de Montmorency and Lamoral became Ambassador to the Court of St James’s from Egmond .
Philippe Negri was Chancellor of the Order of the Golden Fleece from 1557 .
In 1559 the diocese of Antwerp was founded and Philip de Nigri was appointed first bishop. It could not be introduced before his death.
