Ekaterina Khazanovna Mamleeva

Yekaterina Chasjanowna Mamlejewa ( Russian Екатерина Хасьяновна Мамлеева ; born October 2, 1930 in Leningrad ) is a Soviet - Russian electrical engineer and mountaineer .

Life

Mamlejewa studied at the Leningrad Institute of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (LITMO) with a degree as radio technology - mechanical engineer. She lived and worked in Leningrad and then in St. Petersburg .

Mamlejewa learned mountaineering with Viktor Pavlovich Nekrasov (1928–1995) in the Central Sports Club of the Moscow Army . From 1951 to 1967 she climbed 59 mountains and was an instructor. With her ascent of Lenin Peak in 1958, she was the first Soviet woman to exceed the 7,000 m limit.

Mamlejewa has a son and a daughter and two grandchildren.
