Elena Borisovna Frolova
Jelena Borissowna Frolowa ( Russian Елена Борисовна Фролова ; born October 1, 1969 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a Russian singer, composer and poet. She sets and sings poems by Russian authors of the twentieth century and her own.
biography
Born in Riga, Frolova began writing her own pieces at the age of twelve and made her first appearance at the age of 15. She has won numerous singing and music competitions, including the second All Union Art Song Festival in Tallinn in 1988 . From 1989 she also worked as an actress at Jelena Kamurova's "Moscow Theater for Music and Poetry" . Since 1991 Frolova has been singing solo tours in Russia, Western Europe and Israel.
In 1996, Jelena Frolowa learned the Gusli, a new instrument with which she performs Russian folklore as well as other songs. She is one of the few Russian bards who use both the gusli and the guitar as an accompanying instrument. In December 2003 her solo album "Zerkalo" ( Spiegel ) was presented at the Maison des Cultures du Monde in Paris .
During 25 years of public presence, Frolova developed over 700 songs and released more than 40 albums. In addition to her own pieces, she set poems by Marina Tsvetaeva , Ossip Mandelstam , Anna Akhmatova , Sofia Parnok , Joseph Brodsky , Anna Barkowa , Boris Pasternak , Marija Petrowych , Michail Kusmin , Weniamin Blaschenny and others to music .
In 2003 Jelena Frolowa took part in the congress "The historical experience of the Soviet Communist totalitarianism: the opposition to Gulag" in Milan with a program on poems by Varlam Schalamow and Anna Barkowa. In March 2004 she represented Russia at the first international festival “Eurasia Diva” in Moscow. Frolova is a member of the Post-Soviet Russian Writers' Union.
