Jelena Krstic (* 7. January 1981 in Kovin , Serbia as Jelena Simic ), artist name, YELL , is a Serbian singer. Since 2008 she has performed with the gypsy jazz icon Harri Stojka and sings world music , jazz and classical Roma songs.

Life

Jelena Krstic grew up in a family of musicians in Kovin. She made her first appearance at the age of four. At the age of 15, she moved from home and attended the music high school in Belgrade , which she successfully graduated in 2000.

Immediately afterwards, she moved to Austria and studied singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz , and later composition and music theory at the Vienna Conservatory (graduated in 2007). In 2006 Jelena Kristic played a guest role at the Theater an der Wien in the musical "Mitsuko" with Uwe Kröger .

From 2008 to 2010 she performed at many important festivals as part of the “Grooveheadz” project: Turkey , USA (New York, Washington), Austria , Germany , Hungary , Serbia, etc. Since 2008 she has been singing in Harri Stojka's band .

Award

In 2005 she won the Austrian singing competition The Voice , where she received the award for the best Austrian voice.
