Jelena Wladimirowna Kondakowa ( Russian Елена Владимировна Кондакова ; born March 30, 1957 in Mytishchi near Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian cosmonaut . She was the third Soviet or Russian woman in space and the first woman ever to fly a long-term mission. She spent a total of 178 days, 10 hours and 41 minutes in space during her missions.

From 1999 to 2011, Kondakova was a member of the Russian Duma . From 2012 she is the sales representative of Russia in Switzerland .

Private

Kondakova has been married to the cosmonaut Valeri Ryumin since 1985 . The two have a daughter together, and Ryumin brought two more children into the marriage.
