Jenő Gaál

Jenő Gaál [ ˈjɛnøː ˈɡaːl ] (born June 16, 1906 in Zólyom , Austria-Hungary , today Zvolen , Slovakia ; † June 8, 1980 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian composer of classical music .

Gaál was a student of Zoltán Kodály . In 1956 he was awarded the Erkel Prize.

His first symphony, composed between 1954 and 1955, was premiered in 1959 by András Kórodi . His second symphony, a string symphony, was made in 1960. It sounds much more modern than his first work and was premiered in 1964 by Ervin Lukács .
