Jena Alliance

The Jena Alliance for the Renewal of the Social Market Economy is a network of several regulatory and ordoliberal organizations and institutions which, according to their own statements, would like to renew the social market economy . She cites the so-called fathers of the social market economy , Franz Böhm , Ludwig Erhard , Walter Eucken , Alfred Müller-Armack , Wilhelm Röpke and Alexander Rustow .

history

It was founded on June 20, 2008 as part of the 60 Years of Social Market Economy symposium held at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . The Jena Alliance presented its economic policy positions and objectives in the Jena Call for the Renewal of the Social Market Economy published at this symposium .

In January 2009, the Jenaer Allianz sent an open letter to Chancellor Angela Merkel (who ruled with a black-red coalition at the time).

In June 2012, the Jena Alliance published a call for a regulatory economic constitution for the European Union.

The first Jena Convention for the Renewal of the Social Market Economy took place in 2009, the second in February 2011 and the third in May 2013.

Awards ceremonies

The Jenaer Allianz awards the ORDO Prize for regulatory innovations alternately with the Institute for Economic Policy at the University of Cologne and the Walter Eucken Prize every two years (alternating with the Faculty of Economics at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena) .
