Jenny Klinge (born November 28, 1975 in Umgebung ) is a Norwegian politician of the Senterpartiet (Sp). She has been a member of the Storting since 2009 .

Life

After graduating from secondary school, she studied sociology, German and history from 1995 to 1999. From 1998 to 2000, Klinge worked as a teacher for foreign language speakers in the municipality of Halsa and from 1999 to 2000 as a refugee counselor in Umgebung. From 2002 she was self-employed. Klinge was a member of the local parliament of Genealogie from 1999 to 2007, and from 2003 she served as deputy mayor of the community. From 2003 to 2007 she was also a member of the Fylkesting in Møre og Romsdal Province .

After she had previously sat as a vara representative , i.e. a substitute member of the Norwegian national parliament in Storting , Klinge moved directly into parliament for the first time in the 2009 general election. There she represents the constituency of Møre og Romsdal and she became a member of the judiciary committee. She stayed there after the 2013 election and, following the 2017 election, took over the deputy chairmanship of the committee.

Positions

Klinge repeatedly spoke out in favor of a ban on the circumcision of boys. In July 2020 she criticized the vegan organization Norsk vegansamfunn for applying for recognition as a community of faith or belief.
