Jens-Rainer Ahrens

Jens-Rainer Ahrens (born August 22, 1938 in Hamburg ) is a German politician. As a member of the SPD , he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament during the 7th to 11th electoral term .

Life

After secondary school, Ahrens trained as a bookseller and attended evening high school. In 1961 he graduated from high school and began studying sociology at the University of Hamburg . Since 1970 he has been a research assistant at the Department of Social Sciences and received his doctorate in 1972 with a thesis on the socialization of students under Janpeter Kob .

In 1976 Ahrens became professor of sociology at the Helmut Schmidt University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg. He is a member of the trade union ÖTV (today Ver.di ) and the Arbeiterwohlfahrt as well as a member of the SPD since 1965. He held many years of functions in the SPD sub-district executive in the Harburg district and in the SPD's Hanover district executive. He became a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament for the 7th to 11th electoral period from June 21, 1970 to June 20, 1990. From September 15, 1978 to June 20, 1990 he was chairman of the culture committee in the Lower Saxony state parliament. From 1996 to 2001 he was the district administrator of the Harburg district .
