Þráinn Bertelsson

Þráinn Bertelsson (German transcription Thrainn Bertelsson ; born November 30, 1944 ) is an Icelandic author, filmmaker, journalist and politician. From 2009 to 2013 he was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing .

Þráinn is the director of several Icelandic films and TV series. His film Magnús was nominated for best film and best screenplay at the European Film Awards. He has also written the script for many of his films.

He is the author of two socially critical crime novels. He writes a weekly column in the daily newspaper Fréttablaðið .

In the 2009 parliamentary elections , he ran for the newly founded party citizens' movement and was able to win a seat in the constituency of Reykjavík-Nord . However, he later resigned from this party and subsequently belonged to parliament until the end of the legislative period, first as a non-party member of the parliament, then as a member of the Left-Green movement .
